The aim of this study was to evaluate health care quality and medication adherence in people living with human immunodeficiency virus in specialized care services. This is a cross-sectional, evaluative study, with a quantitative approach, carried out in ten services in Pernambuco. Two instruments were validated and analyzed by statistical tests were used and 306 adults and their service managers participated. The quality standard was equivalent for most indicators. Only in the countryside, the indicators referring to the availability of antiretroviral drugs and care in the absence of medication were associated with low adherence (p-value=0.033 and p-value=0.011), the latter being a predictor for low adherence. Services with insufficient quality standards showed a 19% higher occurrence of low medication adherence. 81% of users had low adherence to antiretroviral drugs. There is a deficiency in adherence to antiretroviral drugs, and those assisted in services in the countryside have more complicating factors related to the quality of health care for satisfactory adherence.

Objetivo: Avaliar os fatores associados à não adesão à terapia antirretroviral em Pacientes Vivendo com HIV/AIDS (PVHA) internados em um hospital referência no estado do Pará através do Teste de Morisky-Green (TMG). Método: Estudo descritivo, transversal e quantitativo, aplicado a 22 pacientes PVHA as perguntas do TMG e formulário sobre o perfil social e comportamental. Pesquisa realizada de julho a setembro de 2017. Os dados foram organizados em planilhas do Microsoft Excel®, realizado análise descritiva das frequências absolutas e relativas. Resultados: O perfil sócio demográfico dos PVHA foi 59,1% do sexo masculino, com idade média 39,6 anos, baixo nível de escolaridade, sem emprego fixo, 77,3% procedentes da região metropolitana de Belém e 41% com mais de 5 anos de diagnóstico do vírus HIV. Todos os PVHA foram identificados como não aderentes, embora compreendessem que a terapia é necessária e importante, e não deixassem de tomar o medicamento por se sentir melhor ou triste. Apesar disto, 77,3% desconhecia os nomes dos medicamentos e 63% compreendia que a doença é para a vida toda. Todos referiram bom relacionamento com a equipe de saúde. As principais reações adversas relatadas foram náuseas, vertigem, vômito e sonolência. Conclusão: A não adesão é um processo dinâmico e multifatorial, cabendo ao profissional identificar os fatores de risco para evitar interrupções no tratamento.Palavras-chave: comportamento, motivação, equipe de assistência ao paciente, adesão ao tratamento.

Dementia interferes with the individual’s motor, behavioural, and intellectual functions, causing him to be unable to perform instrumental activities of daily living. This study is aimed at identifying the best performing algorithm and the most relevant characteristics to categorise individuals with HIV/AIDS at high risk of dementia from the application of data mining. Principal component analysis (PCA) algorithm was used and tested comparatively between the following machine learning algorithms: logistic regression, decision tree, neural network, KNN, and random forest. The database used for this study was built from the data collection of 270 individuals infected with HIV/AIDS and followed up at the outpatient clinic of a reference hospital for infectious and parasitic diseases in the State of Ceará, Brazil, from January to April 2019. Also, the performance of the algorithms was analysed for the 104 characteristics available in the database; then, with the reduction of dimensionality, there was an improvement in the quality of the machine learning algorithms and identified that during the tests, even losing about 30% of the variation. Besides, when considering only 23 characteristics, the precision of the algorithms was 86% in random forest, 56% logistic regression, 68% decision tree, 60% KNN, and 59% neural network. The random forest algorithm proved to be more effective than the others, obtaining 84% precision and 86% accuracy.
