Abstract: This model, which has a broader scope in terms of target population, may be a good alternative to the identification and follow-up of individuals with potential depression.

“…For Brazilian instruments, the IRT was applied only to evaluate the BDI. Castro, Trentini, and Riboldi (2010), and Castro, Cúri, Torman, & Riboldi (2015) used the IRT to investigate the Brazilian version of BDI and observed that the individuals with the higher severity of the disorder were those who responded with higher scores to items on weight loss, social withdrawal, and suicidal thoughts.
