Energy Performance in Disc Harrowing Operation in Different Gradients and Gauges

Abstract: The operational performance of the agricultural tractor can be increased by adjusting parameters such as tire inflation pressure, axle mass distribution and gauge opening, which is a very divergent factor in controlled-traffic production. The objective of the experiment was to measure the energy performance of a 93 kW agricultural tractor in intermediate grading operation in two slopes (flat and sloping) and three gauge configurations (closed, intermediate and open) in mobilized soil. Energy performance was de… Show more

“…Using Autonics E100S encoders, it was possible to determine the tractor's four driving wheels' slip. Being obtained, through the rotations of the wheelsets, with and without load, and determined, according to Oiole et al (2019).…”

“…Using a Bermann load cell, with a capacity of 100 kN and a sensitivity of 2.0+0.002 Mv V -1 with a precision of 0.01 kN, installed on the tractor drawbar, it was possible to measure the force on the drawbar. The average force on the drawbar was determined by the ratio between the instant traction force and the number of recorded data (Oiole et al, 2019). With the Vansco 740030A radar, the displacement speed of the assembly (DS) was determined.…”

“…The turbo pressure (TP), force (DB ), power available (DB ) and efficiency (DB ) on the drawbar, and air intake (I ) and exhaust gas (E ) temperatures, were determined according to Oiole et al (2019). Furthermore, TP was measured using a MPX 5700DP piezoresistive pressure transducer model (Motorola Inc.) to assess the pressure at the tractor engine intake manifold during the tests; and I and E were measured during the test using type-K thermocouples placed at the air filter inlet, and exhaust, respectively.…”

“…A slippage index higher than 15% can provide intensive soil degradation, interfering with the operating speed and the hourly fuel consumption. These parameters act directly or indirectly in the operational and energy performance of agricultural tractors, affecting the power and efficiency in the drawbar, specific fuel consumption, and engine thermal efficiency, thus lacking experiments to determine the most efficient drive wheel during the field operation (Smerda & Cupera, 2010;Moitzi et al, 2013;Battiato & Diserens, 2017;Janulevičius et al, 2018;Lopes et al, 2019;Oiole et al, 2019).…”
