As demais espécies representaram juntas 19,2%.… Show more

“…This highlights the possibility that these species may participate in the transmission of ACL in both of the environments studied in Tefé. Some studies of fauna in the várzea environment have identified insects of medical importance, such as mosquitoes and biting midges [ 45 - 47 ]; however, there is little information about sand flies [ 48 ]. This is because the várzea environment is difficult to access during rainy seasons, and because flooding makes field work more arduous; yet flooding may have a direct impact on the habitats of insect fauna.…”

“…Lu. infraspinosa , the third most abundant species, is attracted to rodents (Ready et al ) and occurs at ground level in forests, including forests in the states of Maranhão (Rebêlo et al ) and Pará (Rebêlo and Oliveira‐Pereira ). In the present study, this species was found between 5 m and 10 m, as previously observed in the Amazon where it can occur at up to 20 m (Dias‐Lima et al ).…”

“…In the Amazon, Lu. flaviscutellata flies occur at ground level (Dias‐Lima et al , Rebêlo and Oliveira‐Pereira ). This behavior explains its attraction to rodents observed in the Amazon and in the savannas of the state of Mato Grosso do Sul (Dorval et al ), where Lu.…”
