NOVAS OCORRÊNCIAS DE Leporinus pachycheilusBRITSKY, 1976 E DESCRIÇÃO DE UMA ESPÉCIE NOVA DO MESMO GRUPO NA AMAZÔNIA BRASILEIRA (OSTEICHTHYES, ANOSTOMIDAE).

“…Following Winterbottom's (1980) study of the assemblage that he recognized as the Anostominae, Santos & Jégu (1987) described two new species of Sartor and Sidlauskas & Santos (2005) described a new species of Pseudanos . Abramites (Vari & Williams, 1987) and Laemolyta (Mautari & Menezes, 2006) have been revised fully, while partial revisions have been undertaken for Anostomoides (Santos & Zuanon, 2006), Hypomasticus (Santos, Jégu & Lima, 1996) Leporinus (Garavello, 1988; Garavello & Britski, 1988; Géry, Planquette & Le Bail, 1988; Garavello, 1989, 1990; Santos & Jégu, 1996), Rhytiodus (Géry, 1987) and Schizodon (Bergmann, 1988); Garavello & Britski, 1990; Vari & Raredon, 1991; Sidlauskas, Garavello & Jellen, 2007). Nonetheless, most genera and subgenera outside of Winterbottom's Anostominae, including the most species‐rich taxa (e.g.…”

“…Among small characids, Astyanax dnophos shares with some Hyphessobrycon species (those pertaining to the "Hyphessobrycon agulha" and "Hyphessobrycon heterorhabdus" species-groups; Géry, 1977) Rheophily is known among South American freshwater fishes in Anostomidae (Santos & Jégu, 1987;Santos et al, 1996), Crenuchidae (Buckup, 1993), Characidae (subfamily Serrasalminae: Jégu & Santos, 1988;Jégu, 1992;Jégu et al, 1992;Jégu & Santos, 2002;Jégu et al, 2002a;Jégu et al, 2002b), Sternopygidae (Schwassmann & Carvalho, 1985), Batrachoididae (Collette, 1995), and Cichlidae (Kullander, 1988;Zuanon & Sazima, 2002). Many Loricariidae are also obviously rheophilic (e.g., Zuanon, 1999).…”

“…The representatives of this genus are widely distributed from southern Central America to southern South America (Garavello and Britski 2003), with the Rio Amazonas basin holding the largest diversity and endemism of species. Some species of Leporinus reach approximately 40 cm of standard length (Garavello and Britski 2003), and are very important economically as food resource, other small-sized species has great economic importance in fish hobbyist industry (Santos et al 1996). In general, this genus has been consistently threatened by deleterious anthropic impacts, as the recent construction of dams in Amazonian rivers for energetic purposes (Agostinho et al 2007;ANEEL 2015).…”
