“…Firstly, the sample size was not determined statistically before patient enrollment, which may have yielded biased results, especially on the likelihood of failing to detect true differences between groups (type-2 error). Because statistical power and P-values depend simultaneously on sample and effect sizes, the convenience sample used herein could not provide sufficient power to detect some significant differences between both groups ( 32 ), as noted by the observed (posthoc) power calculated for each anesthetic outcome (when possible).
