Use of organic fertilizers in integrated crop-livestock (iCL) systems may affect soil phosphorus fractions. This study aimed to determine phosphorus fractions in the soil under the iCL system after six years of application of organic or mineral fertilizers. The experiment was conducted on a Rhodic Kandiudox (Nitossolo Vermelho Distroférrico) in a randomized block design, using a 5 × 3 + 1 factorial scheme, with four replicates. The treatments consisted of three organic fertilizers (poultry litter, pig slurry, and compost) and two mineral fertilizers (M1, equivalent to pig slurry; and M2, equivalent to poultry litter) in interaction with three application rates, corresponding to 75, 100, and 150 % of the fertilizer recommendation for the crop of interest and a control (with no fertilizer). Soil sampling was performed in the 0.00-0.05, 0.05-0.10, and 0.10-0.20 m layers for determination of the phosphorus fractions. Successive use of organic or mineral fertilizers for six years in the iCL system considerably raises the labile and moderately labile P fractions up to the 0.20 m depth and, with less intensity, raises the non-labile fractions up to the 0.10 m depth. The soil P increase associated with fertilizer input raises soybean and corn yields, and it does not exceed the critical P limit according to local environmental legislation.

The availability of carbon (C) from high levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2) and anthropogenic release of nitrogen (N) is increasing, but these increases are not paralleled by increases in levels of phosphorus (P). The current unstoppable changes in the stoichiometries of C and N relative to P have no historical precedent. We describe changes in P and N fluxes over the last five decades that have led to asymmetrical increases in P and N inputs to the biosphere. We identified widespread and rapid changes in N:P ratios in air, soil, water, and organisms and important consequences to the structure, function, and biodiversity of ecosystems. A mass‐balance approach found that the combined limited availability of P and N was likely to reduce C storage by natural ecosystems during the remainder of the 21st Century, and projected crop yields of the Millennium Ecosystem Assessment indicated an increase in nutrient deficiency in developing regions if access to P fertilizer is limited. Imbalances of the N:P ratio would likely negatively affect human health, food security, and global economic and geopolitical stability, with feedbacks and synergistic effects on drivers of global environmental change, such as increasing levels of CO2, climatic warming, and increasing pollution. We summarize potential solutions for avoiding the negative impacts of global imbalances of N:P ratios on the environment, biodiversity, climate change, food security, and human health.

Conhecer os fatores relacionados ao desenvolvimento das culturas permite a maximização das áreas de produção agrícola visando à maior produtividade, desse modo, objetivou-se com este trabalho avaliar a influência da adubação nitrogenada no desenvolvimento da cultura do rabanete. O experimento foi realizado na cidade de Tangará da Serra – MT, com base dos resultados encontrados na análise de solo, os canteiros receberam uma adubação com superfosfato simples e cloreto de potássio, já a adubação nitrogenada foi realizada utilizando ureia, parcelada em três aplicações, sendo 1/3 no plantio, 1/3 aos 7 dias após o plantio e os outros 1/3 aos 14 dias após o plantio. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi o de blocos casualizados, sendo cinco doses de N (0, 40, 80, 120 e 160 kg ha-1), com quatro repetições. Após 36 dias da semeadura foram colhidas cinco plantas centrais de cada canteiro e foram determinadas: altura da planta, diâmetro de raízes, matéria fresca e seca da parte aérea, raiz e total. Foi observado diferença significativa para todas as variáveis analisadas. A aplicação de nitrogênio promove melhorias no desempenho da cultura do rabanete e a dose de 160 kg ha-1 de N promove o máximo desempenho.
