Maternidad y prostitución ¿contradictorias y excluyentes?

Abstract

Resumen: Se presenta un estudio que exploró en las vivencias de maternidad de mujeres que ejercen la prostitución a nivel de vía pública. Así, se enfocó la maternidad como una institución social vinculada a imaginarios prescriptivos y a políticas de control de género; y a su vez, se entendió la prostitución como institución patriarcal que estigmatiza a las mujeres que la ejercen. En base al análisis de entrevistas en profundidad realizadas en Barcelona, los resultados dan cuenta que el ʻideal maternalʼ convive con el estigma de la prostitución, aunque no se interioriza negativamente, pues se desarrollan estrategias para gestionar la maternidad en el marco de una ʻvida ocultaʼ; sin embargo, también se vislumbra que esta gestión implica vivenciar experiencias muchas veces contradictorias en el marco del ejercicio de la prostitución.

Social representations of female sex workers about their sexuality
