Growth Kinetics of Nanofrustulum Shiloi Under Different Mixing Conditions in Flat-plate Photobioreactor

Abstract: Diatoms are the major group of microalgae which have been utilized by the potential applications as food industries, aquatic feeds, cosmetics, biofuels, and pharmaceuticals. In this study, current approaches were made in order to determine growth rate, biomass productivity, protein, carbohydrate, lipid and fatty acid composition for Nanofrustulum shiloi cultures using both aeration and mixing conditions in flat-plate photobioreactor (PBR). Physical (the intensity of aeration, mixing, light intensity etc.) and … Show more

“…The benthic diatom N. shiloi was previously identified, and the details are given by Demirel, et al [ 74 ]. In that study, benthic diatoms were separated from the Aegean Sea in Türkiye and identified according to their morphological characteristics on the basis of observations in bright field and scanning electron microscopy.…”

“…Several studies reported specific growth rate and biomass productivities for Nanofrustulum shiloi strains as 0.099 d −1 38 , 0.305 d −1 39 , 0.457 d −1 40 , which correspond to 12.8 mg L −1 d −1 38 , 31.29 mg L −1 d −1 40 , respectively. In the present study, the specific growth rate and biomass productivity of SZCZM1342 N. shiloi and SZCZP1809 N. cf.…”
