Efficacy of application of Equisetum pyramidale Goldm. hydrogel for tissue restoration of induced skin lesions in Wistar rats

Abstract: Abstract Medicinal plants, such as E. pyramidale, are alternatives against infections and assist in the healing process of wounds. We evaluated the effects of Hydrogel of E. pyramidale on the healing of cutaneous wounds in animal models by morphological, morphometric and histological analyses, and elucidated major components. The ethanolic extract of E. pyramidale shoots was submitted to phytochemical analysis. For cicatrizing activity assay, Wistar rats were used, and the groups evaluated were hydroge… Show more

“…HGs to vehicle RU [ 24 , 25 ], CGA [ 26 ], Q [ 27 ], FA [ 28 ], and oligomeric proanthocyanidins (OPC) [ 29 ], as well as polyphenol-rich plant extracts [ 30 , 31 ], appeared effective in ameliorating wound healing in in vivo rat and mouse models, and also in animals with diabetes mellitus experimentally induced by streptozotocin or alloxan ( Table 1 ) [ 28 , 29 , 30 , 31 ]. An innovative RU-conjugated CS-HG was projected by Tran N.Q.…”

“…Another plant extract-containing HG with potential applicability for tissue restoration of skin wounds has been developed by Carmignan F. et al [ 30 ]. The composition of the HG is simply made by Carbopol (1%), methylparaben (0.1%; preservative) and water as a vehicle, to which was added the ethanolic extract (2%) of Equisetum pyramidale shoots.…”

“…Dessa forma, o tempo de reparo tecidual diminui à medida em que há a manifestações no processo cicatrizante com os processos ativados mediados por citocinas, fatores de crescimento e atividade enzimática (LIMA et al, 2009). Nessa perspectiva, os avanços desse processo tanto a compreensão quanto o desenvolvimento de tecnologias mais novas tem ganhado força e estão em andamento (CARMIGNAN. et al, 2019).…”
