“…As demonstrated in this work, mixed flocks of Charadriidae (Nóbrega et al, 2015) and Scolopacidae were commonly observed feeding; while heterospecific groups of Sternidae, Laridae, Rynchopidae and Phalacrocoracidae were sighted when resting in coastal environments, being this oberservation corroborated by Moraes and Krul (1995), Branco (2002) and Ebert et al (2014). The daily behavioral pattern of the birds in the areas investigated was similar to that found by Ntiamoa-Baidu et al (1998) in coastal lagoons in Ghana and by Manoel et al (2011) at Saco da Fazenda Santa Catarina, Brazil.…”

“…Populations from the west of the wintering area originate from the northwest of the breeding areas and populations from the east of the wintering area originate from the east and south of the breeding areas. In general, this species reduces its migration distance by flying mainly along a north-south axis between its breeding and wintering sites (Norris et al, 2006).…”

“…Despite being recorded throughout the year in northern and southern Brazil, there is an information gap on the east coast (Wikiaves 2016 To our best knowledge, our records are the first documented evidence of the occurrence of the Gullbilled Tern in the state of Rio de Janeiro ( Figure 2). Considering that the recent record from Minas Gerais likely represents individuals deviated from the northeastern coast moving inland along the São Francisco River (Nóbrega et al 2015), and that the specimen from São Paulo was collected more than six decades ago, our records are the most recent evidence of the occurrence of the species on the coast of southeastern Brazil. On 9 and 13 September 2015, a Gull-billed Tern was observed by R. Czaban and E.A.…”
