Validation of the portuguese version of the tampa scale for kinesiophobia heart (TSK-SV heart)

Abstract: Introduction: It has been shown that kinesiophobia has a negative influence on the outcomes of cardiac rehabilitation and consequently is important for the clinical setting. Objective: The objective of this study was to translate, culturally adapt, and psychometrically validate the Tampa Scale for Kinesiophobia Heart (TSK-SV Heart) to Brazilian Portuguese. Methods: The Portuguese version was tested in 300 patients in cardiac rehabilitation. Test-retest reliability was assessed by intraclass correlation coeff… Show more

“…Surgical procedures included: aortic replacement, coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) and CABG combined with mitral valve replacement (MVR) or aortic valve replacement (AVR). High kinesiophobic traits were defined as a TSK-NL Heart sum score ≥ 37 (9). If items were removed from the analysis due to low internal consistency, this cut-off point was proportionally re-scaled.…”

“…The TSK is predominantly used in patients with musculoskeletal complaints and was adapted by Bäck et al (7) for use in patients with CAD by replacing "fear of pain" with "fear of a heart incident" (TSK-Heart) (7). The TSK-Heart has been translated into several other languages (8,9). However, a comprehensive external validation, including a rigorous factor analysis, and population prevalence of kinesiophobia in a large contemporary group of patients attending CR, is lacking.…”

“…Two valid questionnaires for this purpose are available, named the Fear-Avoidance Belief Questionnaire and the Tampa Scale of Kinesiophobia (TSK) (1). The TSK has been used for various disorders, such as low back pain (LBP), neck pain, Parkinson's disease, chronic fatigue syndrome, temporomandibular joint injuries, cardiovascular diseases, and post-surgery issues (2)(3)(4)(5)(6). Regarding the fear of movement, the original version of the TSK developed in English includes a 17-item measurement of this disorder in individu-als suffering from musculoskeletal conditions (7,8).…”
