“…On the positive side, there are evidently major recent successes in CVD control, where reductions of between 30% and 60%, within the range of the HICs, were observed in half of the MICs under study. In Brazil, where CVD and cancer are the causes of over half the deaths among adults, declining death rates at ages 45–64 in ischaemic disease (IHD) and stroke, as well as other cardiovascular diseases have been reported [49] , as they have for IHD and stroke in Ukraine and Kazakhstan at ages 25–64 [50] .
