Purpose: to identify and analyze the characteristics of academic research under the rubric Case Report. Methods: we conducted an empirical-analytic research of papers published in Speech and Language magazines -DIC, CEFAC, CODAS and ACR, the years 2009-2013, a total of 151 papers.Results: a) a certain predilection for the single case studies but a clear tendency to study up to five cases compared to studies with larger numbers of subjects; b) regularity in one of the magazines, of the number of case reports published over the study period; progression in another and decrease in the other two; c) an hegemony of studies with children compared to other age groups; (e) balance between the number of case reports discussing diagnostic and those discussing intervention; (f) case reports that focused clinical procedures, those in which the diagnosis and therapeutic or intervention are associated occur in fewer.There was the need to critically analyze this finding, as far as Speech and Language Pathology, a clinical discipline, should avoid the separation of therapy and diagnosis. Clinical is a structure and as such, have their components in constant articulation so that the direction of intervention can be identified, described and explained. Conclusion: although the case report has constant presence in the analyzed publications, its importance to clinical reasoning is still quite underestimated. Keywords: Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences; Case Studies; Case Reports; Referral and Consultation RESUMO Objetivo: identificar e analisar as características da produção acadêmica sob a rubrica Relato de Caso. Métodos: realizou-se uma pesquisa empírico-analítica dos trabalhos publicados nas revistas de Fonoaudiologia -DIC, CEFAC, CODAS e ACR, dos anos de 2009 a 2014, perfazendo um total de 151 trabalhos. Resultados: (a) uma certa predileção pelos estudos de caso único mas uma tendência clara de estudar até cinco casos em relação aos estudos com maior número de sujeitos; (b) regularidade, em umas das revistas, no número de relatos de casos publicados ao longo do período estudado; progressão em outra e decréscimo nas outras duas; (c) uma hegemonia de artigos no campo da linguagem quando se cruza número de publicações e especialidade da Fonoaudiologia; (d) uma hegemonia de estudos com crianças em relação às outras faixas etárias; (e) equilíbrio entre o número de relatos de casos que discutem diagnóstico e os que discutem intervenção; (f) os relatos de caso cujo foco são os procedimentos clíni-cos, aqueles em que o diagnóstico e a terapêutica ou intervenção estão associados, ocorrem em menor número. Observou-se a necessidade de analisar criticamente este achado, dado que a Fonoaudiologia, como disciplina clínica, deveria evitar a separação entre terapêutica e diagnóstico. As examples, we can mention the opium, originated from the poppy, which was for a long time prescribed as a painkiller, antitussive and antidiarrheal medication, and the marijuana, prescribed as a general sedative, for the specific treatment of rheumatism, neurosis, insomnia, headaches, diarrhea, seizures and anorexia as well as in the therapy of tetanus and cholera (Carneiro, 2006).

Este escrito é resultado de algumas reflexões suscitadas, sobretudo, a partir da prática clínica com crianças e adolescentes num serviço público que oferece atendimento psicológico e assessoria a escolas de um municí-pio do Rio Grande do Sul. A experiência nesse centro vem revelando uma situação que demanda atenção: muitas crianças vêm para atendimento carregando consigo um diagnóstico já estabelecido, realizado, em sua maioria, por profissionais da área médica, principalmente psiquiatras e neurologistas.Ao mesmo tempo, além dessa questão do diagnósti-co, é possível perceber outro ponto que igualmente requer um olhar crítico: a prescrição excessiva de medicação nessa fase constituinte da vida do sujeito, como se esse recurso fosse o único ou o principal na condução terapêutica das psicopatologias nesse perío-do. A respeito disso, pode-se citar como exemplo o uso do Cloridrato de Metilfenidato, conhecido popularmente como Ritalina, comumente prescrita a crianças diagnosticadas com transtorno de déficit de atenção e hiperatividade (TDAH). De acordo com a Agência Nacional de Vigilância Sanitária (ANVISA) (Brasil, 2012), esse medicamento teve uma elevação eloquente de consumo de 75% entre crianças de seis a 16 anos, dentre 2009 e 2011, e a explicação dos psiquiatras para esse crescimento se relaciona ao diagnóstico do TDAH estar mais apurado.Isso RESUMOEste artigo objetivou abordar as especificidades do processo diagnóstico nas psicopatologias na infância a partir de uma revisão da literatura. Num primeiro momento, realizou-se uma fundamentação teórica acerca de como a psicanálise concebe o diagnóstico, contrapondo com a perspectiva médica. Posteriormente, refletiu-se sobre como pensar esse processo na infância, considerando suas particularidades. Por fim, discutiram-se as repercussões do ato diagnóstico nesse período tão peculiar, tendo como inspiração recortes da prática em psicologia clínica e escolar, articulando-os com os achados teóricos. Enfim, discutiu-se sobre a excessiva prescrição medicamentosa percebida na atualidade, como também sobre os efeitos possíveis que podem surgir nos espaços por onde a criança circula: seu meio familiar, escolar e social. ABSTRACT Diagnosis of childhood: what are the possible implications?This article aimed to address the specificities of the diagnostic process in psychopathology in childhood from a literature review. At first, there was a theoretical basis on how psychoanalysis conceives diagnosis, contrasting with the medical perspective. Subsequently, reflected on how this thinking process in childhood, considering its particularities.
