This study aimed to compare impulsivity, aggressiveness, and alcohol and drug use in 115 male adolescents aged 14 to 17 years. The study have four groups as follows: (1) juvenile offenders (n = 30), (2) students in regular public education (n = 30), (3) athletes in a soccer team (n = 30), and (4) students at a military school (n = 25). The instruments used in this research were a questionnaire about substance use, the Barratt impulsiveness scale for young people, and the State-Trait Anger Expression Inventory. The results indicated that juvenile offenders had higher levels of anger feelings and impulsivity compared with other groups. Although the groups did not differ in terms of alcohol experimentation, those who had already consumed alcohol presented higher scores on impulsivity and aggressiveness. Adolescents who had already tried drugs scored higher on impulsivity for non-planning and inward anger. In comparison with being detained in a juvenile offender regime, intense sports practice was associated with lower level of anger and studying in a military school with lower motor

“…Issues such as job loss, debt, and financial crisis indicate the presence of destabilizing experiences, which can trigger a suicide attempt for people who have suicidal ideation. 28 In order to respect the number of items in the Portuguese instrument, the predictors História de violências interpessoais (físico, psicológico, sexual) (History of interpersonal violence [physical, 10/14 psychological, sexual]), which occupied the position of item 10, and História de preconceito (questões étnicas/sexuais/sociais) (History of prejudice [ethnic/sexual/social issues]), to item 13, were included in the Brazilian version, both with CVI values above 0.78 in all the criteria in the evaluation of the Brazilian version. Situations of violence and discrimination lead to greater vulnerability and decreased self-esteem and self-efficacy of the individual, in addition to being related to depressive disorders, which can contribute to suicidal behavior.…”

Objective: to perform the content validation of the Nurses Global Assessment of Suicide Risk index for the Brazilian population served in primary care. Method: a methodological study of cultural adaptation and content evaluation of the NGASR index, original scale from the United Kingdom, carried out through the stages: evaluation of verbal comprehension by an experts committee (semantic, idiomatic, conceptual and cultural equivalence and content validity), back-translation and verification of clarity by means of a pre-test. The experts committee was composed of nine judges and the pre-test with 30 users of primary care services and 19 nurses. The Content Validation Index was calculated. Results: the final validated version is composed of 15 items that obtained a Content Validation Index greater than 0.78 by the experts committee and in the application of the pre-test with users and nurses. Conclusion: the instrument favors the performance of professional nurses in primary health care in the prevention of suicidal behavior by facilitating risk assessment and the adoption of relevant actions.

Objetivo: Identificar entre adolescentes em situação de vulnerabilidade social os que apresentam ideação suicida. Método: Estudo de abordagem quantitativa, corte transversal e descritivo, realizado com adolescentes, com idades 12 a 18 anos, em situação de vulnerabilidade social e façam parte de uma Organização Não Governamental. Para a coleta de dados foram utilizados os instrumentos: questionário estruturado e Escala de Avaliação do Risco de Suicídio de Columbia. Resultados: A maioria dos adolescentes é do sexo feminino, vivem em famílias com média de cinco pessoas, com renda de até um salário mínimo. Dentre os entrevistados 17 adolescentes afirmaram que nunca desejaram estar morto ou nunca pensaram em se matar, enquanto, 13, revelaram a presença de ideação suicida. Todos os adolescentes entrevistados vivem em famílias com média de cinco pessoas, com renda de até um salário mínimo e mais de 50% dos adolescentes responderam que seus pais são casados ou têm uma união estável. A maior parte dos responsáveis possui ensino fundamental incompleto e 15% desses estão em situação de desemprego. Conclusão: Frente à gravidade da temática, é necessário pensar em intervenções eficazes que possam detectar precocemente a presença de ideação suicida nos adolescentes.
