RESUMOObjetivo: buscou-se analisar a tendência da mortalidade por desnutrição em menores de 5 anos residentes no Brasil. Método: trata-se de estudo ecológico, de séries temporais, sobre mortalidade por desnutrição em crianças brasileiras menores de cinco anos, de 2003 a 2016. Coletaram-se os dados em maio de 2018 pelo Sistema de Informações sobre Mortalidade. Realizaram-se análises de tendência e regressão polinomial. Apresentam-se os resultados em tabelas e figura. Resultados: verificou-se tendência decrescente da mortalidade por desnutrição em todas as regiões do Brasil (p<0,001). Averiguou-se que as regiões Norte e Nordeste apresentaram as maiores taxas de mortalidade, enquanto as regiões Sul e Sudeste as menores. Constatou-se que os maiores índices estaduais foram Mato Grosso do Sul, Alagoas e Pernambuco (2003-2007); Roraima, Amazonas e Acre (2008-2012 e 2013-2016). Conclusão: observou-se tendência decrescente da desnutrição infantil no Brasil, mas com diferenças regionais indicando a necessidade de atenção às especificidades de cada região. Resumo O objetivo deste artigo é estimar as prevalências de insegurança alimentar grave (IAG) para municípios brasileiros, em 2013. Construído modelo de regressão logística preditor de IAG, utilizando a Pesquisa Nacional por Amostras de Domicílios (PNAD) 2013. A IAG foi aferida pela Escala Brasileira de Insegurança Alimentar (EBIA). O modelo foi aplicado ao Censo de 2010, sendo preditas as prevalências municipais. As maiores prevalências estão concentradas na Região Norte e Nordeste, que apresentaram também as maiores discrepâncias municipais. A maior prevalência municipal de IAG foi no Maranhão e a menor no Rio Grande do Sul. O Maranhão foi também o Estado com maior discrepância intraestadual na prevalência de IAG. Na análise espacial verificou-se que as maiores prevalências de IAG estavam concentradas na Região Norte e Nordeste e se reduzia à medida que desloca-se para o Sul do país. No Acre, 100% dos municípios apresentaram prevalência muito alta de IAG. Em São Paulo, 59,1% dos municípios tiveram prevalências baixas de IAG. As prevalências de IAG municipais foram mais elevadas nas Regiões Norte e Nordeste que apresentaram grande discrepância de distribuição intrarregional e intraestadual. Tais prevalências podem auxiliar o processo de melhoria e focalização das políticas de combate à fome no Brasil.

Public policy planning associated with the management of the Science, Technology, and Innovation is decisive to improve public health. It is important to develop novel strategies to plan, supervise, manage, use and evaluate research using indicators that extrapolates metrics in current use. In 2011, the Brazilian government introduced the Brazil Without Extreme Poverty plan (BWEP) that aimed to integrate several conditional cash transfer programs (CCT). The original that aimed to integrate of the CCTs were expanded in order to integrate social justice and dignity that induced several actions towards the promotion of social development of the beneficiaries. An induced action involved a partnership between BWEP (From the Ministry of Social Development), CAPES (Brazilian Higher Education Agency) and The Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (FIOCRUZ, a Public Health Institution), that dedicated scholarships for PhD and postdoc students committed to the BWEP to promote health research in its multiple approaches and the vulnerable associated population. Using the Social Studies of Science and Technology (SSST) framework, this paper analyzes the dynamics of knowledge production in the context of program implementation. Herein, we report on the follow-up activities performed in BWEP Health Action, directing research projects to align with the goals of the program, evaluating the progress of these research, and defining strategies for improved their management. We analyze the advances and difficulties encountered in the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of this innovative program in the academic training level, and we emphasize the critical need to expand and improve similar initiatives aimed at guiding the scientific and technological production in health to meet the social demands.
