Show more

“…The classic trifurcation of the CA into hepatic, left gastric and lienal arteries was the most prevalent arrangement in C. thous, similar to that registered in C. familiaris, Oryctolagus cuniculus, Myocastor coypus, and Galea spixii [1,2,10,27]. The bifurcation in a hepatic artery and gastrolienal trunk found in a single specimen of C. thous of this sampling was also reported as sporadic in C. familiaris [1,14].…”

“…The trifurcation of the celiac artery into the left gastric artery, hepatic artery and splenic artery, which are distributed to organs such as the stomach, liver, duodenum, spleen and pancreas, is a characteristic pattern in some Rodentia species, such as the golden hamster ( Mesocricetus auratos ) (Orsi et al, 1975), laboratory rats, mice (Hebel & Stromberg, 1986), coypu (Machado et al, 2006) and Spix's yellow‐toothed cavys ( Galea spixii ) (Oliveira et al, 2017), suggesting that this type of arrangement is an ancestral derivation in the group's formation.…”
