MORPHOLOGY OF FRUITS AND SEEDS AND GERMINATE AND INITIAL DEVELOPMENT ANALYSIS OF Hancornia speciosa

Abstract: Ihe morphological characters of the fruits of Hancornia speciosa Brazil's central Cerrado differ from those of other regions. Germinability expresses the genetic potential of the species and tests in plant-nursery provide said to environmental conservation. The sowing depth and substrate type test verifying the initial development is important to accelerate seedling production and provide strategies for there covery of altered and degraded areas. Weibull's cumulative model was used to adjust seed germination o… Show more

“…There was a wide difference in germination between the two lots. The summer lot had an 80% germination rate of freshly harvested seeds, similar to other studies (Barros et al 2011;Oliveira et al 2018;Nunes et al 2021). The summer harvest is the main production period of the species when trees produce more and larger fruits (Silva-Júnior and Lédo;Coradin et al 2018).…”

“…In this study, the predominant fruit shape observed in the accessions was spheroid (Table 4). Muniz et al (2019) and Oliveira, Silva and Chagas (2018) reported 2018) observed the mean fruit weight of 31.94 g, values above those found in fruits from Embrapa Tabuleiros Costeiros Mangaba Genebank (19.38 g). Regarding seed physical attributes, Muniz et al (2019) reported similar values to those found in this study for the number of seed, however, the weight of seeds was higher.…”

“…There are reports of seed biometry for species such as Syagrus romanzoffiana (Goudel et al 2013); cambuı (Myrciaria tenella O. Berg) (Silva et al 2012a); bacuri (Platonia insignis Mart.) (Santos et al 2019); gabiroba (Oliveira et al 2018). However, significant basic knowledge of seed biometry remains to be known and published.…”

“…In addition, reducing the water content between 20% and 5% reduces the physiological potential of the seeds (Masetto e Scalon, 2014). Mangabeira seeds are also influenced by the depth of sowing and the type of substrate and should be planted one centimeter deep in Cerrado soil with up to 15% washed sand (Oliveira et al, 2018). Importantly, the germination of H. speciosa seeds starts from day 12 and extends until day 41, with an average emergence of 55.4% and average days to emergence of 22.64 (Vieira et al, 2015).…”
