Fronteiras e state-building periférico: O caso da Fundação Brasil Central

Abstract

Resumo Este artigo analisa as práticas de territorialização da Fundação Brasil Central (1943-1967) com o objetivo de discutir o state-building em contextos periféricos. Por meio da análise de relatórios, cartas e publicações oficiais da FBC, argumenta-se que a indefinição sobre o espaço real do “Brasil Central” era central para o processo de acumulação territorial promovido pela referida fundação. O artigo se debruça sobre alguns casos empíricos em torno de conflitos por terras para demonstrar as consequências violentas desse processo sobre os moradores e trabalhadores locais.
