Mais humor, menos política: Uma certa tendência no drama contemporâneo brasileiro

Abstract

By approaching the study of theatrical and television adaptations, which were accomplished in the past years, the paper investigates a trend in the Brazilian contemporary drama. This tendency draws upon revamping plays originally written by authors of the Arena Theatre (Teatro de Arena of São Paulo), and recently rewritten towards the center of the ideological criticism, emptying the political debate, and enlarging humor by way of the comedy of manners. In order to defend this hypothesis of reading, seen as one of the possible ways of appropriation of the heritage of an artistic engagement at the time, the text discusses analyses of the adaptation of the play Eles não usam blacktie (They Don't Wear Black Tie), directed by Dan Rossetto in 2011, and the new version of the television sitcom A grande família (The Big Family), produced by TV Globo Broadcast network between 2001 and 2014. Above all, this paper aims to verify a conservative view in recuperating works by Gianfrancesco Guarnieri and Oduvaldo Vianna Filho.
