Influence of Moringa oleifera derivates in blends of PBAT/PLA with LDPE

Abstract: There are few studies about Moringa oleifera derivates in polymer developments where vegetable oil was used as a plasticizer and a biodegrading agent. The polymerization of moringa oil (MO) was carried out assisted by microwaves without catalysts presence. There aren't studies about the polymerization of MO using microwaves technology. Moringa's oil and its polymer (PMO) were used as a biodegrading agent for mixtures of low density polyethylene (LDPE) with poly(butylene adipate-co-terephthalate)/poly(lactic ac… Show more

“…More importantly, their mechanical properties are so practically useful and similar to those of low density polyethylene. [1] Fruits and vegetables are typically consumed when fresh or as the raw materials for food processing. They are raw materials that easily spoil because of high amount of water and protein content.…”

“…Essential oils such as castor, palm and Moringa oleifira oils were blended with several traditional polymers to enhance their processability. Their chemical structure, which contains various fatty acids, make them more vital besides its renewable nature (Wang et al, 2004;Fakayode and Ajav, 2016;Quintão et al, 2018). Essential oils were utilized as a coupling agent for enhancement of filler-rubber interaction (Kundu, 2000).…”

“…These blends form a new class of materials: biocomposites that are obtained from based on biodegradable polymers as matrix [6,[28][29][30] . Poly(lactic acid) (PLA) and poly(butylene adipate-co-terephthalate) (PBAT) are among the polymers most investigated as possible matrices for the formation of these blends, on account of chemical and mechanical properties, besides being are both biodegradables [30][31][32] .…”
