Background: Fatigue is the inability to maintain the required stamina in work capacity with consequences affecting occupational performance, health, and safety. Women are often more exposed to the risk of fatigue because they tend to be multitaskers. The present survey is aimed at determining the perceived fatigue in female nurses employed in hospitals and identifying the individual and occupational factors affecting it. Methods: This survey was conducted on 270 female nurses. The sample was selected using multistage randomized stratified multistage sampling. To collect the data, a demographic and occupational information, and Iowa Fatigue Scale (IFS) were filled using the self-report technique. The gleaned data were analyzed with SPSS16 using analysis of variance (ANOVA), T-test and, and Pearson correlation coefficient. Results: The overall score of nurses fatigue was 30.78±7.90. There was a statistically significant difference between employment status (p=0.01), husband's support (p=0.00), age (p=0.008), and work experience (p=0.02) on one hand, and fatigue. There was no significant difference between marital status (p=0.23), type of ward (p=0.59), official position (p=0.51), work shift (p=0.29), having a suckling (p=0.10), having a second job (0.25), and monthly work hours (p=0.38) and fatigue. Conclusion: Based on the findings of this survey, a moderate degree of fatigue was observed among female nurses employed in clinical wards. Also, factors such as age, being married, employment status, and husband's support have considerable impact on the perceived fatigue. This demands the application of preventive interventions to decrease fatigue in female nurses specifically for older married nurses with permanent employment.

“…In the weekly workload of nurses from Pelotas, it was observed a prevalence on the morning shifts and/or afternoon, with a weekly workload of up to 40 weekly [11]. On a similar way to Ceara, in Ribeirao Preto, the developed weekly workload varied from 21 to 78 hours, being the average of 46.2 hours, showing that the workers did overtime in the same institution that they worked professionally [16]. The nurse's weekly workload has an aggravating factor in relation to other professions that might be distributed in shifts of 12 hours, diurnal or nocturnal, or with six daily hours, going through holidays and weekends.…”

The study's objective was to report the nurses' self-evaluation of health and quality of life, associated with the socioeconomic characterization. Transversal study, with a sample of 190 nurses, in a state's reference general hospital. For procedures of descriptive analysis and inferences, the Statistical Package for Social Sciences 13.0 used. The comparison of averages was made, using statistical tests: Mann-Whitney, Friedman, t of Student and ANOVA. For the accomplishment of correlation analysis, the Spearman's correlation coefficient was used. The study strictly followed the regulation of national and international research. One observes a population mainly composed of women, with average age of 36.04 years old, working in nursing for 9.05 years, with family income of R$ 8,410.11 and weekly workload of 47.16 hours. The satisfaction with health had a score of 57.50 and the quality of life's self-evaluation, 61.32. Through the findings, it was possible to demonstrate the existing correlation between the workload's increase and a worst self-evaluation regarding the quality of life.

Justificativa e Objetivos:Os fatores individuais, relativos ao trabalho e organizacionais podem favorecer a adesão de práticas seguras no ambiente laboral, prevenindo a ocorrência de exposições a material biológico entre profissionais da área da saúde. Baseado nisso, objetivou-se verificar a influência de fatores individuais, relativos ao trabalho e organizacionais na adesão às precauções padrão. Métodos: Trata-se de um estudo transversal, de caráter censitário, com abordagem quantitativa, realizado com 79 profissionais da área odontológica (cirurgiões-dentistas e auxiliares em saúde bucal), alocados no sistema público de saúde de um município do interior paulista. Para coleta dos dados, os participantes responderam ao modelo explicativo da adesão às precauções padrão. Trata-se de um questionário validado, constituído por variáveis demográficas e escalas psicométricas, onde a associação destes fatores com a adesão às precauções padrão foi obtida por meio da análise de regressão logística múltipla. Resultados: A análise estatística revelou que a idade do profissional, o tempo de atuação na profissão e de trabalho na unidade; a forma como tomou conhecimento das precauções padrão, a personalidade de risco, a eficácia da prevenção, os obstáculos para seguir as precauções padrão, o treinamento e disponibilidade do equipamento de proteção individual; as ações gerenciais de apoio a segurança do trabalhador, o feedback das práticas seguras e conhecimento da transmissão ocupacional do HIV; além da carga de trabalho, influenciaram positivamente na adesão às precauções padrão entre os profissionais integrantes do estudo. Conclusão: Conclui-se que a adesão às precauções padrão é influenciada, simultaneamente, por fatores individuais, relativos ao trabalho e organizacionais.Background and Objectives: Individual, work-related and organizational factors may favor adherence to safety practices in the work environment, preventing exposure to biological material among health professionals.Based on that, the aim of the study was to verify the influence of individual, work-related and organizational factors on adherence to standard precautions.
