A Path Analysis of Latino Parental, Teenager and Cultural Variables in Teenagers' Sexual Attitudes, Norms, Self-Efficacy, and Sexual Intentions

Abstract: OBJECTIVE: to test a theoretical model based on the Parent-Based Expansion of the Theory of Planned Behavior examining relation between selected parental, teenager and cultural variables and Latino teenagers' intentions to engage in sexual behavior. METHOD: a cross-sectional correlational design based on a secondary data analysis of 130 Latino parent and teenager dyads. RESULTS: regression and path analysis procedures were used to test seven hypotheses and the results demonstrated partial support for the model… Show more

“…Path analysis is the statistical technique that allows an examination of causal relationships between one or more independent variables, either continuous or categorical, and one or more dependent variables, either continuous or categorical. First developed by Sewall Wright in the 1930s, path analysis is a second generation multivariate method (the first generation being a multiple regression) based upon a linear equation system, which was still used recently to analyze smoking behavior among adolescent using Theory of Planned Behavior (Gaioso et al, 2015). Path analysis was employed in this data analysis since it allows an estimation of both direct and indirect relationships between variables.…”

Komunikasi yang menekankan pada konformitas menekankan pada keseragaman dalam sikap, nilai, dan keyakinan keluarga.…”

“…Attitudes towards sexuality or sexual behaviors are affected by multidimensional factors, such as endocrine hormone, [ 14 ] alcohol consumption, [ 15 ] physical fitness, [ 16 ] mental state, [ 17 ] sexual knowledge, [ 18 , 19 ] and religion. [ 20 ] Moreover, previous results have indicated that family factors contribute to sexual attitudes or behaviors.…”
