Logistic growth models of China pinks, cultivated on seven substrates, as a function of degree days

Abstract: The objective of this study was to characterize the height (H) and leaf number (LN) of China pinks, grown in seven substrates, as a function of degree days, using the logistic growth model. H and

“…However, its application to Brassica vegetables has not been reported. In this study, the 2D timebased growth models of choy sum seedling under various light intensities were all fitted well to the logistic model (Figure 7C), which agreed with those reported in the literatures on modeling the growth of other plants under constant environmental conditions such as light and soil, as well as limited nutrient supply (Milani et al, 2016;Chen, 2019;Rafiee and Mahbod, 2020).…”

“…The water saturation content in the substrate can often be up to 50%; however, it can be reduced quickly to less than 10% under a slight water tension increase of only 20 to 40 cm in the water column (Wang, Gabriel, Legard, & Sjulin, 2016). Differences in the parameters estimated by the logistic model can also be verified in work done with Dianthus chinensis L., in which differences between the evaluated substrates were observed (Milani et al, 2016). The same analogy can be used for the β 2 parameter, in which higher values were found in the treatments with sugarcane bagasse.…”
