“…The accentuated decline after the third (60 days) and fourth (120 days) subculture in the in vitro production of etiolated plants was mainly due to the loss of many shoots which at the start of the subculturing appeared to be healthy, but that passed through an intense oxidation process that caused the death of a significant portion of the shoots produced. A process similar to oxidation was observed in the 'Xavante' variety of blackberry, which might have been caused by the interaction of the time spent by the parent plants in the absence of light with the reduction of MS salts in the culture medium (Pelizza et al, 2016). However, many researchers have found the absence of light to be a strategy to reduce oxidation processes during in vitro cultivation, revealing the need for additional studies to understand the causes that led to such high oxidation in this experiment.…”
