Learning lean with lego: developing and evaluating the efficacy of a serious game

Abstract: This study presents the use of a serious game developed to teach Lean philosophy. The structure of this game was built from theoretical elements and predefined learning events. Learning outcomes and student motivation were considered in the evaluation of the efficacy of the game. This serious game was applied to four groups of students with different profiles. The evaluation results were compared among these groups of students. It can be concluded that the serious game developed showed positive results in lear… Show more

“…In this research, a simulation of a manufacturing line was carried out by assembling a car with LEGO's pieces in an ergonomic workstation, Computational Intelligence and Neuroscience mimicking the real conditions of a work area and recording brain waves to determine stress. LEGO is a system of building bricks that can be freely joined between two parts of LEGO and remain together until being separated and has been used in the simulation of manufacturing systems to teach Lean Philosophy [27]. Also, LEGO bricks have been employed for educational purposes in the design and management of manufacturing systems focused on an integrated approach [28].…”

“…Além de se tratar de uma ferramenta inovadora, didática e fácil de manusear, o game apresenta facilidades na tomada de decisão, por se tratar de uma simulação bastante realista, porém em ambiente livre de estresse. Esta conclusão ratifica diversos estudos na esfera nacional e internacional (17,(19)(20) .…”
