Crop rotation with species diversification contributes to the control of pests, diseases and weeds and improves soil fertility and conservation, which can lead to increased profitability in grain production systems. The objectives of this study were to determine whether grain production systems that employ crop rotation with species diversification are more productive and profitable than double-cropping rotations without diversification and to analyze the revenues and production costs of these cropping systems. An experiment was conducted in a region with subtropical climate between the crop years of 2014–2015 and 2019–2020. The experiment consisted of a randomized block design with six treatments and four replicates. The treatments consisted of six grain production systems, including five rotations with varied levels of species diversification and a corn–soybean rotation without species diversification, all under no-tillage. Productivity, revenue, production cost and profit indicators were analyzed. Productivity was compared by Duncan’s test (p ≤ 0.05). The grain production systems with species diversification showed better productivity and profitability than the corn–soybean system. The profit of the systems with species diversification was on average 37% higher than that of the system with corn–soybean rotation. In summary, grain production systems that employ crop rotation with species diversification showed higher productivity and profitability than the corn–soybean rotation without species diversification.

Aim Our goal was to relate the phytoplankton metacommunity to its possible determinants in a micro watershed: (I) determinants related to landscape-scale filtering, (II) determinants referring to local microhabitat filtering, (III) determinants referring to previous colonization, and (IV) determinants representing three different dispersal routes. Methods Eight sampling stations were selected along the Cascavel River watershed, located in the state of Paraná, Brazil. Samples were collected quarterly for three years. All phytoplankton samples were quantitatively analyzed to determine the density of the metacommunity. In addition, it was characterized the landscape in terms of land use and occupation, and environmental characterization in terms of physical and chemical variables of the water. All data underwent relevant statistical analysis, where variance partitioning was carried out using partial RDA models, with prior selection of predictor variables, to estimate the relative role of each predictor in the community. We also compared three possible dispersal routes: “Asymmetric Eigenvector Map” (AEM), “Overland” and “Watercourse”. Results It was found that the metacommunity was best explained by “asymmetric eigenvector mapping” (AEM), indicating that because it is a small spatial scale the high connectivity between the sampling stations enables species to disperse overland as well. The different filters act together and depend on rainfall variation. Besides fluctuating temporally, the influence of these mechanisms is subject to which dispersal hypothesis is being considered. Conclusions At the watershed scale, we argue that small-scale processes should be considered, since they homogenize the landscape and consequently leave the environmental gradient similar between sampling stations. In addition, the connectivity of colonization patches is essential to understand the behavior of microalgae that have a high dispersal capacity and are not restricted only to the river course.

O objetivo deste trabalho foi analisar as tendências de precipitação pluvial e de temperatura do ar do município de Coari (AM), Brasil, considerando a série histórica dos anos de 1970 a 2015. Os dados foram obtidos no site do INMET em escala temporal mensal e anual e correspondem aos dados da estação convencional, após o preenchimento de falhas foram aplicados os testes não-paramétricos de Mann-Kendall e Pettitt para verificar a tendência e a homogeneidade, respectivamente. Os resultados demonstraram que a significância foi superior a 0,05 para a precipitação pluvial representando a inexistência de tendência significativa dos dados anuais e mensais, para temperatura do ar ocorreu tendência significativa (p<0,05) positiva da temperatura máxima, com aumento contínuo a partir do ano 2000 e da temperatura mínima a partir de 1997, para os dados anuais e mensais. De maneira geral, foi possível atestar a efetividade dos métodos estatísticos na consolidação de respostas para análise de alterações climáticas, sendo possível afirmar que ocorreram tendências positivas de incremento da temperatura do ar registrada em Coari e a estacionariedade dos dados pluviométricos.Palavras-chave: Testes não paramétricos, Climatologia geográfica, alterações climáticas. Climate Trends in Coari/AM - BrazilABSTRACTThe objective of this work was to analyze the trends of rainfall and air temperature of the municipality of Coari, Amazonas, Brazil, considering the historical series from 1970 to 2015. The data were obtained from the INMET website in monthly and annual time scale and correspond to the conventional station data, after filling gaps the non-parametric Mann-Kendall and Pettitt tests were applied to verify the trend and homogeneity, respectively. The results showed that the significance was greater than 0.05 for rainfall representing the absence of a significant trend in annual and monthly data, whereas for air temperature there was a significant positive trend in maximum temperature, with a continuous increase from the year 2000 and minimum temperature from 1997, for annual and monthly data. In general, it was possible to attest to the effectiveness of statistical methods in the consolidation of responses for analysis of climate change, and it is possible to affirm that there were positive trends of increasing air temperature recorded in Coari and stationarity of rainfall data.Keywords: Non-parametric tests.
