Treatment of frontal bone fracture sequelae through inversion of the bone fragment

Abstract: Treatment of frontal sinus fractures depends on the structures involved: the anterior wall, the posterior wall and the nasofrontal duct. It may vary from the correction of the defect in the anterior wall to the cranialization with obliteration of the nasofrontal duct. The inversion of the frontal sinus's anterior wall to correct the defect in the fractured region is a good treatment option for sequelae, since this technique eliminates or reduces the use of biomaterial in the area, and allows direct assessment … Show more

“…The treatment modality to be used is different depending on the type of fracture [20,21]. Fractures of the frontal complex involve anterior and posterior walls and, when compared to the others in the maxillofacial region, are considered to be a controversial treatment since it varies according to the type present [22]. When there is a displacement of the anterior wall, it is usually treated with open reduction and rigid fixation using mini plates, however, other methods such as the use of the "camouflage" technique of the aesthetic defect can also be used [23].…”

“…Fraturas pouco cominuidas podem ser tratadas por meio de abordagem endoscópica ou insuflação. Devido sua natureza cosmética esse padrão de fratura pode ser tratado tardiamente ou através de camuflagem com materiais aloplasticos ou autógenos 1,5,7 .…”

“…e proliferation and differentiation provide nutrients; on the other hand, it can quickly absorb the tissue fluid secreted by the wound, which is conducive to the coagulation of blood, keeps the surface of the wound clean, and promotes the repair of the wound. From the perspective of the patient, electrospun polyester carbon nanofibers as a trauma dressing can reduce the formation of scar tissue and the frequency of dressing changes, thereby reducing the mental and physical pressure of the patient [17,18].…”
