The fourth antecedent of sleep disturbance is the side effects of the ARV therapy ( González-Tomé et al, 2018 ; Ren et al, 2018 ; Shikuma et al, 2018 ; Venkataraman et al, 2021 ), and the fifth antecedent is social factors, including family and social support ( Bedaso et al, 2020 ; Ren et al, 2018 ), internalized HIV stigma ( Fekete et al, 2018 ), unsatisfactory lifestyles ( dos Santos et al, 2018 ), low-income ( Yan et al, 2021 ), unemployment ( Najafi et al, 2021 ), and behavioral risk factors ( Costa et al, 2019 ; Downing et al, 2020 ; Ogunbajo et al, 2020 ).…”

“…Previous cross-sectional studies showed, for instance, that internet addiction and poor sleep quality coexist and increase the odds of depressive symptoms [34,35]. It is essential to highlight that poor sleep quality is a common issue in PLWH, independently of the SD [36].…”

“…Up to 75% of PWH report poor sleep quality, compared to 40% of individuals in the general population (Gutierrez et al, 2019). Poor sleep quality is associated with insomnia (Gutierrez et al, 2019), daytime sleepiness (Irwin et al, 2016; Santos et al, 2018), depression (Allavena et al, 2016; Gutierrez et al, 2019), a decrease in the performance of daily activities (Allavena et al, 2016; Gutierrez et al, 2019) and decreased quality of life (Gutierrez et al, 2019). Despite its high prevalence and the negative health consequences of poor sleep quality in PWH, little is known about the multifactorial causes of this symptom.…”
