Historical aspects in pain management in palliative care in an oncological reference unit

Abstract: Objective: Describe the actions implemented for pain management in palliative care oncology and analyze the contribution of Hospital do Câncer IV, as a reference unit at the National Cancer Institute. “…Em vista de promover uma assistência nos cuidados paliativos que possa aliviar a dor total do paciente, é mister que exista um olhar holístico nas avaliações, para tanto, é recomendado que essa assistência seja prestada por uma equipe multiprofissional. A atuação da equipe interdisciplinar vai consistir em trazer abordagens de extrema importância para atender as necessidades humanas daquele indivíduo e de seus familiares, havendo uma integração entre os saberes de cada profissional, dessa forma consistindo em uma elaboração de planejamento de assistência mais ampliada e significativa (PAIVA, 2021) Assim, ressalta-se a necessidade de iniciativas dos profissionais que viabilizem a concretização de assistência genuína desse tipo de cuidado com capacidade para reconhecer e intervir sobre a realidade com princípios éticos e, sobremaneira, humanísticos.
