Four new species of the strophocheilid genus Anthinus are described from Brazil, being A. synchondrus from region of Unaí, Minas Gerais; A. vailanti from the region of Brasilândia de Minas, Minas Gerais; A. morenus from Paracatu region, Minas Gerais; and A. savanicus from Formosa region, Goiás. Another similar snail from Itacarambi, Minas Gerais, is described as a new genus and species: Catracca uhlei. All species are described conchologically and anatomically, with distinctions explored in almost all structures. For comparative purposes, a similar anatomical investigation on the Anthinus type species, A. multicolor, from Rio de Janeiro, is also performed. A detailed comparative analysis and discussion is provided, including taxonomic and initial phylogenetic inferences. The preliminary phylogenetic analysis is based on anatomically known species in the literature and in the presently study. A bulimulid, a simpulopsid and two dorcasiids are outgroups. The preliminary cladogram already shows a monophyletic Strophocheilidae (14 synapomorphies), divided into two also monophyletic subfamilies: Megalobuliminae (14 synapomorphies) and Strophocheilinae (5 synapomorphies). The new Catracca resulted as the most basal strophocheilid branch. Mirinaba and Anthinus were also supported as monophyletic (3 and 6 synapomorphies respectively. An anatomical and taxonomic study of Megalobulimus oblongus (Müller, 1774) and M. conicus (Bequaert, 1948) (Strophocheilidae, Megalobuliminae) is carried out, based mainly on samples from the south-central region of Bahia, Brazil. It revealed interesting anatomical differences in several structures, mainly in the pallial cavity, with greater ramification of vessels in the respiratory region of M. oblongus when compared to M. conicus; and in the genital system of M. conicus, which has a more elongated prostate, and the folds of the penis are more spaced. A taxonomical discussion is presented, including several characters confirmed as typical of the genus and subfamily, such as buccal flange, prerectal valve and pulmonary septum.

A new species of megasnail, Megalobulimus diluvianus sp. nov., is herein described based on subfossil material from limestone caves in the area of Lagoa Santa, Minas Gerais state, southeastern Brazil. The specimens come from a context of archaeological strata of early Holocene age. Considering the morphological features of the shell, the new species seems closely allied to the so-called “Megalobulimus bronni complex”, whose representatives inhabit the tropical to subtropical Atlantic plateau of southeastern Brazil. Megalobulimus diluvianus sp. nov. is considered to be presently extinct (substituted by M. oblongus in the stratigraphical record).
