“…Although experience is still limited, ECT proved to be effective in maintaining airway patency at the ostomy site [190] . Finally, it was successful in palliating selected patients with skin tumor infiltration from underlying tumors of the parotid [173,176] and thyroid gland [191] . In 3 of 4 patients with metastatic papillary thyroid cancer who were resistant to radioiodine and sorafenib, ECT led to stabilization of local disease until death.…”

“…Several solid organ and hematologic neoplasms can metastasize to the skin, with an overall incidence of 0.7-10% [225][226][227] . ECT has been occasionally investigated to palliate patients with lung, gastric, bladder, and kidney cancer [11,191,200,228,229] . However, because the evidence relies on isolated reports, any possible clinical benefit must be carefully evaluated on an individual basis.…”

“…5 Although these treatments have been constantly improved, PTC patients still suffer from cancer recurrence, invasion and/or metastasis. 6 Therefore, developing more effective methods of diagnosis and treatment for managing PTC is highly necessary.…”

“…The vast majority of thyroid cancers of follicular origin have a very favorable outcome, but 5-10% of the cases will develop metastatic disease [1]. The most common sites of metastatic differentiated thyroid cancer are the neck lymph nodes, lungs, bones, and less frequently the brain [2]. The skin is an uncommon metastatic site of thyroid cancer but, when it occurs, the scalp is the most frequent region involved [2,3].…”
