Abstract: Introduction Allopregnanolone is a GABAnergic neurosteroid. Reduced concentration of allopregnanolone in the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and serum are closely associated with several neuropsychiatric conditions, including Alzheimer’s disease, anxiety disorders, premenstrual dysphoric disorder, and postpartum depression.
