The purpose of this study was to investigate influencing factors and characteristics in Korean adults with diabetes by glycemic control groups. A secondary data analysis was conducted using the data of "The Fifth Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, 2012" in this study. Finally, 608 participants who adults with diabetes were used for analysis. Selected data were processed using the SPSS 21.0 program. Diabetes duration(OR: 1.70, 95% CI 1.03-2.92) and age(OR: 2.06, 95% CI 1.16-3.65), hypertriglyceridemia(OR: 2.45, 95% CI 1.21-4.98) were positively associated glycemic poor control group. Therefore considering these factors and individualized diabetes intervention by glycemic control group are helpful for adult patients with diabetes.

The purpose of this study was to explore the parent related factors that influence internet game addiction among elementary school students. Method: Data was collected through self-administered questionnaires and descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, correlation and stepwise multiple regression were used to analyze the data. Data survey was conducted with 739 conveniently selected students who were in grades 4, 5, and 6 of elementary schools in Seoul or Gyung-gi province. Results: The addiction groups were classified as general user group (84.3%), potential risk group (10.0%) and high risk group (5.7%). There were significant internet game addiction differences by gender, grade, expense of internet café, religion, school record, place where child played, economic status, and duration and frequency of game play. The addiction was negatively correlated to parents' attachment, supervision, attitude to child nurturing, and expectations regarding school study. The most significant variables were both parents' attitude to child nurturing, and mother's supervision. These three variables explained 20.7% of internet game addiction in elementary school students. Conclusion: These findings are expected to make a contribution to the creation of ideal interventions at school, home, and counselling centers to prevent internet game addiction.
Purpose:The purpose of this study is to investigate the factors influencing suicidal ideation in middle school students. Methods: Suicidal Ideation Questionnaire (SIQ) results, personal characteristics, child abuse experiences, and stress were obtained from a sample of 657 middle school students from 3 conveniently selected schools in S city. Results: Suicidal ideation of participants was positively correlated with child abuse experience, stress, psychosomatic symptoms, antisocial personality and depressive tendencies, whereas sociability and self-esteem were negatively correlated with suicidal ideation. Significant factors influencing suicidal ideation included an antisocial personality tendency, stress related to the family environment, mental abuse, gender (female), depressive trend, running away from home, sociability, and stress related to academic performance. These factors explained 39.9% of the variance. Conclusion: These results suggest that earlier screening and intervention programs for depression and stress in middle school students will be helpful in reducing suicidal ideation. Further studies are needed in which other strategies that could prevent suicidal ideation in middle school students are examined.
A survey was conducted to examine death anxiety and preferences regarding end-of-life care among adults aged 40 years or older. A total of 352 subjects were recruited from two areas in South Korea by trained research assistants, who used structured questionnaires consisting of demographic characteristics, Templer’s Death Anxiety scale, and the Korean version of the Preference of Care at the End of Life. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, a t-test, an ANOVA, and Pearson’s correlation coefficient. Subjects reported a moderate level of death anxiety. Furthermore, while a gender effect was detected, an age effect was not. There was a low preference for life-sustaining treatment with no significant differences among the various demographic groups including age. This study suggests that in order to promote clients’ self-determination and end-stage quality of life, health care providers need to be aware of clients’ attitudes toward death and their preferences regarding end-of-life care.
