This study was carried out to investigate relations among knowledge, attitude, and nursing practice, and influencing factors on nursing practice of the nurses-towards the elderly in geriatric hospitals. Data were collected from March 17 to April 20, 2013 by questionnaires from 188 nurses who work at 12 geriatric hospital in D city and K city. The data were analyzed by the SPSS and AMOS programs. The subjects' knowledge score was 0.49 out of 1, attitude score of subjects 3.72 out of 7, and their nursing practice score was 3.54 out of 4. There were significant differences in nursing practice among the subjects due to age, duration of employment, current gerontological nursing education, and living with the elderly people. There were significant positive correlations among knowledge, attitude, and nursing practice. According to the research, influencing factors on nursing practice of the nurses-towards the elderly in geriatric hospitals included knowledge, attitude, and current geronological nursing education.
The study was done to identify factors influencing self-care in tuberculosis (here in after TB) patients. Data were collected by questionnaires from 216 TB chemotherapy as outpatients by visiting a "M" TB hospital located in the C city. Measures were self-care, health-belief(susceptibility and severity, benefit, barrier), and family support. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, One-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and multiple regression analysis with the SPSS/WIN 19.0 version. The subjects' self-care score 3.76 out of 5. There were significant differences in self-care among the subjects due to gender, marital status, family structure with the subjects, average monthly income, smoking status, drinking status and period of taking TB drugs. There were significant correlations among benefit, barrier, family support, and self-care. According to the research, influencing factors on self-care in TB patients included family support, barrier, average monthly income, smoking status, and benefit. Findings from this study can be used as basic data to develop self-care programs for TB patients.
This study was conducted as a descriptive study with the aim of identifying the effects of clinical nurses' resilience and social problem solving abilities on burnout. Data collection for the study was carried out between May 30 th and June 19 th , 2013 by surveying 192 clinical nurses working in university medical centers and general hospitals located in D city. Measures were subjects' resiliency, social problem solving abilities, and burnout. For the analysis of the data, the statistical methods of frequency, mean and standard deviation, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and multiple regression analysis were employed. When the category of burnout was analyzed by general features, placement in a desired department and size of hospital, there were significant differences. Burnout correlated negatively with resilience and social problem solving abilities. Factors affecting clinical nurses' burnout were identified in the order of resilience, size of hospital, social problem solving abilities, and placement in a desired department and the explanatory power was 43.1%. The findings of the study indicate that in order to decrease clinical nurses' burnout, their resilience and social problem solving abilities have to be enhanced.
Purpose: This study examined the fitness of a path model for the relationship among daily life stress, problem of life, social support, depression, and suicidal ideation in adolescents. Methods: The subjects consisted of 247 adolescents. Data were collected through self-report questionnaires. The data were analyzed by the SPSS and AMOS programs. Results: Daily life stress, problem of life, social support, and depression showed direct effects on suicidal ideation in adolescents, while daily life stress and problem of life showed indirect effects on suicidal ideation in adolescents. Daily life stress and problem of life showed direct effects on social support and depression in adolescents. The hypothetical path model of adolescents' suicidal ideation was proven correct. Conclusion: Based on the outcomes of this study, it is necessary to design an intervention program that emphasizes the reduction of daily life stress, problem of life, depression and enhancement social support in order to prevention adolescents' suicidal ideation.
The study was done to examine the effects of horticulture therapy on depression and stress in patient of hospice unit. The subjects of this study were hospice patient in D hospital in D city, thirty hospice patient were assigned to experimental group, thirty hospice patient were assigned to control group. Data were collected from . Horticulture therapy program consisted of indoor and outdoor horticultural activities. The horticulture therapy was conducted 30 minutes, 6 times a week for 3 weeks (a total 18 times). Measures were depression, and stress by serum cortisol count. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, chi-square test and t-test with SPSS/WIN 17.0 version. The results of this study was patients in the experimental group receiving Horticulture therapy had a significant difference in changes of depression between the experimental group and control group. The study results indicate that horticulture therapy is an effective, palliative intervention program to improve the depression and stress of hospice patients.
