Classification and identification of Aspergillus section Flavi have still relied mainly upon the morphological characters used as taxonomic criteria. It is, however, difficult to differentiate the species because of the wide intra-and interspecific diversity of morphological characteristics 1). Recently, attempts have been made to classify Aspergillus section Flavi by molecular genetic techniques based on restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) with 2) or without 3) using Southern hybridization, random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) 4) , and sequence divergence of aflR genes involved in the aflatoxin pathway 5). The above methods have all provided useful
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
