Based on the material kept at the Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D. C., seven new species of Strepsiptera, Mengenilla orientalis, Stichotrema ceylonense, S. ambiguum, S. krombeini, S. simile, S. minor and Tridactylophagus ceylonensis, are described from Sri Lanka. A species of Paraxenos is also recorded. All of these genera, i. e., Mengenilla, Stichotrema, Paraxenos and Tridactylophagus, are recorded from Sri Lanka for the first time.
Diagnosis : So far as the type species is concerned, the subgenus is recognizable by the robust and rather small size, the entire process of the labrum, the shiny integument, and the presence of very fine and dense punctures on the metasoma which is black and red. The female of this species is further distinct in having the propodeal corbicula not well developed, with dorsal fringe of rather scanty, not well arranged hairs, interior of corbicula with sparse, fine, simple hairs throughout, the trochanteral floccus perfect and dense, the tibia1 scopa compact with simple hairs, and the posterior spur of the hind tibia slightly widened and curved near the base. The male of this species is characterized by the yellow clypeus, and primarily by the aedeagus of the genitalia which is keeled medially.
A newsubgenus Adamon is proposed to include two Japanese species, Nomadakoikensis Tsuneki, 1973 and Nomada arasiana Tsuneki, 1973. The new subgenus is very characteristic in having the male antennae 12-segmented. This is unusual for the bees. The male description of N. koikensis is presented. Key to the species ofthe subgenus is given.
The discovery of Pharohylaeus from Papua New Guinea and that of the female of the genus are reported. Phurohylaeus papuunus, a new species, is described. The bee genus Pharohylaeus Michener is monobasic and its type species, Meroglossa kzctifera Cockerell, 1910, an Australian species, has been known by the male only.
