After laser irradiation, the plates were cultured aerobically or anaerobically, and the bactericidal effect was determined by the formation of a growth -inhibitory zone .It was found that in the presence of CV (final concentration: 0.8mg/l) the bactericidal effect of yellow He-Ne laser irradiation was more effective than that of the red He-Ne laser, killing requiring only 5s. All six target organisms were equally sensitive to the yellow He-Ne light. These findings suggest that the use of a yellow He -Ne laser may be effective in eliminating plaque bacteria, and that clinical application to periodontal treatment may be warranted.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
