Based on the conical double-liquid variable-focus lens, by taking infinite objects as example, detailed calculations are presented to predict how the parameters for the variable-focus optical system without mechanical movements are related to meet the basic requirements of zoom lenses, i.e., changed focal length and unchanged image plane for the system, and the relational expressions are given. With the method of digital approximation, the zoom range of this optical system which meets two basic requirements is calculated out. The zoom range of this variable-focus optical system without mechanical movement is large and its focal length can be adjusted by choosing fixed lenses with different focal lengths.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
