Hemocyanin is one of three main types of respiratory proteins and currently only occurs in minority animal groups including arthropoda and molluscan species, respectively. Here we summarized the distribution and structural characteristics of hemocyanin superfamily members existing in the arthropoda and molluscan species, and the major biological features ever found were also introduced in detail. Commonly used techniques and methods during the investigation and research for the hemocyanin were listed and explained here. The above helps to understand the research status of hemocyanin and expand the practical application of it.
