През последните години делът на уврежданията предизвикани от експозицията на токсични фактори от работната среда, макар и различен за отделните отрасли на производство, е немалък. В някои сфери на металургията и химическата индустрия рискът от увреждане при работа с токсични вещества се задържа на едно относително постоянно равнище, в други нараства, а има и такива производства при които е налице тенденция към намаляване. Токсичните ефекти се дължат както на вече известни, така и на внедряването на редица нови за металургията и химическата промишленост материали. Независимо от това, експозицията на тежки метали продължава да бъде една от водещите причини за увреждане на работещите в редица производства. Целта на настоящото проучване е да се проследи честотата и да се направи експертна оценка на клиничната изява, тежестта и степента на увреждане здравето на професионално експонирани на метали пациенти за период от пет години.
През последните години значително нарасна броят на прилаганите лекарства и съответно на тези, които отключват директно или непряко са свързани с развитието на ангиоедем. От докладваните до момента случаи ще разгледаме тези, които са свързани с употребата на нестероидни противовъзпалителни средства, инхибиторите на ангиотензин конвертиращия ензим, ангиотензин 2-рецепторни агонисти, антибиотици и естрогенови препарати.
При жените с наследствен ангиоедем заболяването се отличава с по-тежко протичане, което според някои автори се дължи на влошаване от периодите на хормонални промени в организма – пубертет, бременност, менструация. Според други, това влошаване се наблюдава и при добавяне на женски полови хормони в рамките на хормонозаместителна терапия или като метод за контрацепция.
