The paper presents an ontological analysis of the terminology associated with the concept of vulnerability in the energy sector. The ontology of vulnerabilities is proposed. This ontology reflects the interrelationships between this concept and other cyber security concepts. Classification of vulnerabilities is presented. Possible means of protection for ensuring information security and cyber security in the energy sector are considered.
The article proposes a conceptual model of knowledge for the study of the fuel and energy complex as a critical infrastructure. A system of interrelated ontological models reflecting the basic concepts of the subject area and their relationship is proposing as a conceptual model. The structure of the fuel and energy complex objects, the tasks of research from the standpoint of energy security, the models used for research and the corresponding information base are considered. Quantitative information is presented by technical and economic characteristics of energy facilities, reporting data and research results on the development of the fuel and energy complex. The developed system of ontologies is using to structure and integrate knowledge in the study of critical energy infrastructures.
The article discusses the possibilities of using semantic technologies in the development of an intelligent information system to support energy and socio-environmental research. The use of the proposed knowledge management technology makes it possible to integrate research in different subject areas. The authors refer to the semantic technologies as the traditional ontological representation of knowledge and the cognitive approach, which allows formalizing the processes of making expert decisions. The use of ontologies is proposed to describe the knowledge of subject areas of interdisciplinary energy and socio-ecological research related to assessing the impact of energy on the quality of life. Ontologies make it possible to agree on terminology between researchers and are used to describe and structure knowledge and required information. Cognitive modeling is used to support researchers in the decision-making process, identify and describe cause-and-effect relationships between the main concepts of the subject area, and visualize possible situations. The paper describes the components of the ontological space of knowledge for the implementation of joint energy and socio-ecological studies of the impact of energy on the environment and quality of life. Examples of an ontology, a cognitive map, and a variant of the developed data model for designing a database for research are given.
This paper examines an ontological approach to integrating knowledge to support interdisciplinary studies in energy and ecology in terms of quality of life assessment. These studies involve the integration of environmental and social components. The environmental component is determined by natural and climatic conditions and the state of elements of the natural environment of a particular territory. The social component implies meeting the demand of the population for electricity and heat, which are necessary for comfortable living. To compare the positive and negative impacts of the operation of energy facilities on the natural environment and the population, quality of life metrics are considered as a way to assess these impacts. We present ontologies detailing the basic concepts of the subject area of research on the anthropogenic impact of energy facilities and quality of life, and reflecting their integration into a single ontological space of knowledge. The use of the ontological approach provides a visual representation and integration of knowledge from different subject areas.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
