Исследуются этносоциальные и личностные предикторы направленности межкультурной коммуникации у жителей российских городов с различным этническим составом населения. Актуальность исследования обусловлена необходимостью более глубокого понимания факторов, определяющих успешность индивида в разнообразии культурных контекстов, в связи с развитием процессов глобализации и интенсификации межкультурного взаимодействия. Целью исследования является изучение ряда личностных особенностей (тип этнической идентичности, уровень толерантности и культурный интеллект), влияющих на успешность межкультурной коммуникации у жителей России (N = 1095), проживающих в городах с различным этническим составом населения: моноэтническим (Москва, Волгоград, Хабаровск), биэтническим (Казань) и полиэтническим (Махачкала). В исследовании выявлены особенности межкультурной коммуникации в городах с разным этническим составом на основании ряда показателей (языковая идентичность, знание языков, интенсивность межкультурного общения и др.). Наиболее высокие показатели по большинству исследованных параметров продемонстрировали жители биэтнических и полиэтнических регионов. В сравнительном исследовании показателей культурного интеллекта, толерантности и выраженности типов этнической идентичности была установлена значимость влияния фактора этнического состава населения города на перечисленные феномены. Наиболее явные различия касаются опрошенных жителей биэтнических и полиэтнических городов по сравнению с моноэтническими городами. Выраженность позитивной этнической идентичности и толерантности выше у жителей биэтнических и полиэтнических городов. При этом уровень гетерогенности этнического состава населения может неоднозначно влиять на показатели культурного интеллекта: биэтнический состав населения способствует наиболее высокому уровню культурного интеллекта, в то время как полиэтнический – снижает его уровень.
