The relative occurrence of RHD among serologically D- samples, positive for C and/or E, differed significantly in the investigated central European regions. Considering the growing use of molecular typing techniques, correct identification of blood group alleles with scarce or missing antigen expression is of utmost clinical importance and requires reliable population-based frequency data.
Severe acidosis caused death of cultured cerebellar granule neurons (CGNs). Acidosis was accompanied by a progressive increase of the intracellular zinc ions ([Zn(2+)](i)) and decrease of [Ca(2+)](i). Zn(2+) chelator, N,N,N',N'-tetrakis(2-pyridylmethyl)ethylenediamine (TPEN), prevented the increase of [Zn(2+)](i) and acidosis-induced neuronal death. However, neuronal death was insensitive to blockade of ASIC1 channels with amiloride, as CGNs display considerably lower expression of ASIC1a than other neurons. The antioxidant trolox and menadione significantly protected neurons from acidotic death. Earlier, we demonstrated that menadione rescues neurons from the deleterious effect of inhibition of mitochondrial complex I (Isaev et al. Neuroreport 15:2227-2231, 2004). We speculate that excessive Zn(2+)-dependent production of reactive oxygen species by mitochondrial complex I may be a general motive for the induction of cell death in CGNs under acidotic conditions.
Abstract. Commercially available greenhouses are commonly used for provision of year-round growing of agricultural crops at protected ground. In order to provide favorable conditions for plants growth these agricultural constructions should be equipped by artificial heating systems in cold seasons. This work presents an overview of basic traditional and alternative heating systems which find their applications in agriculture. Advantages of application of roof radiant heating with infrared radiation sources for greenhouses are discussed. It was discovered that now there is no appropriate mathematical model of greenhouse radiant heating, which takes into account both heat and mass exchange processes. Here we propose a mathematical model of radiant heating, which includes equation system of both heat and mass exchange processes for greenhouse, its enclosure and soil. The numerical calculations were performed for commercially available greenhouse "Farmer 7.5". We investigated the impact of external air temperature and heat exchange rate on the following greenhouse radiant heating characteristics: internal air temperature, heating system thermal power and water discharge for soil watering.
The article is devoted to comparison of thermal and aerodynamic efficiency of two configurations of the regenerative nozzle used in the regenerative heat exchanger for room ventilation. The impact of nozzle channel diameter, nozzle length and stage time on the thermal efficiency of the nozzle, its aerodynamic resistance and the required fan power is considered.
The influence of geometric (length, diameter and wall thickness of a unit equivalent channel of the nozzle), thermophysical (density and heat capacity of the nozzle material) and operating parameters (air flow through the regenerator and the time of one stage of accumulation / regeneration of thermal energy) on the thermal efficiency of stationary switching regenerative heat exchangers was studied . It was revealed that by varying the length and diameter of the channel and air flow, it is possible to increase thermal efficiency up to 10%. It was found that the wall thickness of a single channel, the density and heat capacity of the material of the nozzle, as well as the time of one stage, slightly aff ect the thermal efficiency of the regenerative heat exchanger.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
