Abstract. Most of the reactions of reducing gas (CO) interaction with an oxide melt fl ow in a mixed regime, which is realized at the comparable diffusion rates (υ) of the components to the point of the reaction and an adsorptive-and-chemical act. For the theoretical calculations of the rate it is necessary to fi nd the value υ in a kinetic regime. In assumption of electrochemical nature of interaction of reducing gas (CO) with an oxide melt, which contains metallic ions Me n O m , a kinetic equation has been deduced for the calculation of the rate of a reduction process in the kinetic regime. The equation takes into account physical and chemical properties of interfacial phases. A good correspondence of the calculations and experimental data have been shown at the example of interaction of oxide melt system of CaO -SiO 2 -Al 2 O 3 containing up to 5.7 % (wt.) of Fe 2 O 3 with a gas phase of carbon monoxide at partial pressure (5.0)10 2 MPa and 1623 K.Keywords: oxide melt, electrochemical reduction, carbon monoxide.
