Едно от съвременните определения за уртикария я дефинира като състояние, което се характеризира с възникването на уртики, ангиоедем или и двете. Класифицира се като остра (с продължителност под 6 седмици) и хронична (над 6 седмици), която от своя страна се подразделя на спонтанна и индуцирана уртикария. Вибрационната уртикария / ангиоедем е сред най-редките форми на хронично индуцираната уртикария. Може да бъде наследствена или придобита, като последната се среща по-често и понякога може да бъде професионално обусловена. Преобладава становището, че патогенетичният механизъм е свързан с неимунологична реакция. Терапията от първа линия включва неседативни антихистамини в конвенционални или по-високи дози. Професионалната експозиция на локални и общи вибрации, която обуславя вибрационната болест, може, макар и рядко, да бъде отключващ екзацербациите на хроничната уртикария фактор. При липса на точно диагностициране и адекватно лечение, честите обостряния на тази рядко срещана форма могат да влошат качеството на живот на пациентите. Описаният от нас клиничен случай на асоциация между уртикария и вибрационна болест ще допринесе за подобряване на комплексния диагностично-лечебен алгоритъм при уртикарията, с цел по-широко познаване на редките ѝ форми, и по-благоприятно протичане на заболяването. Оптималната колаборация между алерголози, дерматолози, специалисти по професионални болести и общопрактикуващи лекари е необходима в подобни случаи за повишаване на качеството на медицинското обслужване, което ще доведе до по-добри резултати от проведените диагностично-терапевтични мероприятия.
