The article presents the results of research in the field of university training of mathematics teachers aimed at realising STEM education at school and other educational organisations. The authors identified 1) insufficient readiness of school teachers to implement STEM training, and 2) lack of professional mathematics teachers having special qualification in this area. Based on Russian and foreign experience, the authors propose to use the potential of the elective courses for purposeful preparation of future mathematics teachers to implement STEM training. The approach to designing the content and technological components of such a course rests on the principles of practical orientation, multidisciplinarity, professional orientation and the application of a regional context. The course consists of theoretical and practical modules, which make it possible to integrate the potential of all STEM components in the professional training of teachers and to master the basics of STEM implementation.
Ensuring the competitiveness of pedagogical universities and their graduates is one of the strategic tasks in the field of education and the country’s economy. Its achievement requires orientation of the basic educational programs and technologies for their implementation to the needs of the modern school. This necessitates a rethinking of approaches to organizing the training of future teachers, strengthening its practical orientation by expanding the area of responsibility of direct employers. The central issue of the article is the role and directions of implementing partnerships between the employer and the pedagogical university in preparing future teachers in the current educational situation. The purpose of this article is to identify promising areas of its development on the basis of an analysis of the existing regional experience in the training of teachers based on the implementation of social and professional partnerships. The study of the role and directions of the implementation of partnerships between the employer and the pedagogical university in the preparation of modern graduates – future teachers was carried out on the basis of the application of theoretical and empirical research methods. An analysis of the role of the employer in the training process was carried out on the basis of questionnaires and expert interviews. The main material was the pedagogical experience of teachers of the Institute of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics of KSPU named after V.P. Astafiev, and employers – directors of educational institutions of secondary education of the Krasnoyarsk Territory and the Republic of Khakassia, as well as the results of a study of the problems of training future teachers. Based on empirical data, the article concludes that social and professional partnerships are a necessary part of the training of future teachers in accordance with modern requirements and standards. The role and directions of implementing partnerships between employers and a pedagogical university in the preparation of future teachers are detailed. The practical significance lies in the use of the results obtained in the system of higher pedagogical education in order to ensure high-quality training of graduates.
Purpose: to describe the results of a regional study of subject and methodological skills of teachers of mathematics in the Krasnoyarsk Territory; highlight the professional difficulties of teachers in the subject area "Mathematics"; determine a list of corrective measures to eliminate the identified problems. Methods: theoretical (analysis of scientific literature on the problem of research, systematization and generalization of the results of scientific research) and empirical (ascertaining pedagogical experiment, analysis and interpretation of the results). Results: a program for diagnosing the subject and methodological skills of the professional activity of a mathematics teacher was developed. A diagnostic toolkit has been developed, which is based on the following principles: orientation to current educational results and modern requirements for the labor actions of a teacher, a system-activity approach for determining deficiencies in the field of methods of teaching mathematics, the possibility of designing an individual trajectory of a teacher's professional development based on the results of diagnostics. The analysis of the research results and recommendations for eliminating the identified professional deficiencies are presented. Scientific novelty: developed and substantiated an approach to the formation of control and measuring materials for the diagnosis of professional deficiencies in mathematics teachers. Practical significance: the main results and conclusions of the article can be used to create a regional system for monitoring professional deficits of mathematics teachers, as well as to develop modular training programs for teachers that provide personalized assistance to teachers in eliminating professional difficulties.
Modern educational realities are such that the teacher must be ready for constant self-improvement, self-education in the field of professional activity. Changes in the content, technological, evaluative components of the educational process require the teacher to update and refresh the methodology of teaching the subject, which can cause certain difficulties. The purpose of the study is to determine the list of methodological difficulties for mathematics teachers and their causes based on the diagnosis of methodological competencies. To achieve this goal, both theoretical and empirical research methods were used. In the course of the research carried out by the authors, a number of methodological competencies of a mathematics teacher were identified – components of his professional competence: he is able to design the results of teaching mathematics in accordance with the current educational standards; is able to design the content of teaching mathematics, focused on the achievement of educational results by various categories of students; is able to design educational and cognitive activities of students in the process of teaching mathematics in accordance with modern requirements and on the basis of variable forms of its organization; is able to objectively assess the educational results of students’ mathematical training. The level of formation of these competencies was diagnosed through diagnostic work, self-assessment and expert assessment of the teacher’s activities. A number of methodological difficulties that teachers experience in the implementation of the process of teaching mathematics in modern conditions were identified. Possible reasons for the identified difficulties are identified and some recommendations for their elimination are indicated.
