Произведена оценка демографической нагрузки на окружающую среду в прибрежных муниципальных образованиях Нижнего Дона в динамике за десятилетний период. В пределах исследуемой территории расположены пять городских округов с крупными промышленными зонами, а также 8 городских и 72 сельских поселения, входящих в состав 17 сельских муниципальных районов Ростовской и Волгоградской областей. Как в 2011 г., так и в 2021 г. отмечалась высокая концентрация населения и, закономерно, интенсивность его воздействия на окружающую среду в пределах традиционно привлекательного для мигрантов областного центра – г. Ростова-на-Дону – и ряда соседствующих с ним городских и сельских поселений Азовского, Мясниковского и Аксайского районов, а также Семикаракорского, Цимлянского (Ростовская область) и Суровикинского (Волгоградская область) городских поселений. Большинство нижнедонских прибрежных поселений не демонстрировало увеличения показателя демографической нагрузки, а в отдельных случаях было отмечено ее значительное снижение. Так, в 2021 г., в отличие от показателей десятилетней давности, на исследуемой территории не осталось муниципальных образований с высокими значениями демографической нагрузки (18–20 баллов), что связано прежде всего с естественной и миграционной убылью населения. Все без исключения прибрежные города и сельские поселения Нижнего Дона характеризуются депопуляцией. Значительное снижение демографической нагрузки (на три и более балла) было отмечено не только в 16 сельских поселениях Ростовской и Волгоградской областей, но и в трех городских округах Ростовской агломерации – Азове, Батайске и Новочеркасске.
С конца XIX и до середины XX в. по Нижнему Дону ходило множество пароходов, работавших на угле. Пароходство имело исключительно важное экономическое значение, а самые крупные порты находились в Таганроге, Ростове-на-Дону и Азове. Для нужд пароходства была существенно изменена природная система донской дельты: проложены судоходные каналы, углублен фарватер, изменено общее направление и объемы стока. Сегодня в осадках дельты обнаружен крупный прослой пережженного угля — шлака, выброшенного за борт и захороненного в донном грунте. Угольный шлак становится важным техногенным индикатором «эпохи пароходов», его изучают для оценки особенностей осадконакопления, изменения гидрографической сети, интенсивности судоходства и освоения новых территорий в XIX и XX в.
Осуществляемые Южным научным центром Российской академии наук комплексные исследования колонок донных отложений, кернов из верхних горизонтов береговых кос позволяют с большой степенью детальности реконструировать гидродинамические и климатические трансформации в Приазовье на протяжении позднего голоцена. Выявлены внутривековые изменения климата и водности в Приазовье по гидрометеорологическим данным (1884–2020 гг.), которые подразделяются на три периода: холодный (многоводный, 1884–1942 гг.), переходный (1942–1985 гг.) и теплый (маловодный, 1986–2020 гг.). Отсутствие паводкового дренажа и маловодье привели в последнее время к заилению многочисленных проток и гирл дельты Дона. После зарегулирования стока реки (начиная с 1952 г.) скорость осадконакопления в некоторых протоках дельты и авандельты достигла 10–30 мм/год, что значительно выше по сравнению со скоростью накопления новоазовских отложений на шельфе Азовского моря (от 0,2 до 2 мм/год). Новым техногенным индикатором скорости осадконакопления могут быть угольные шлаки, оставшиеся от эпохи пароходов, которые отлично маркируют горизонт 1860–1960 гг. Анализ наблюдаемых закономерностей позволяет предполагать, что в ближайшие два десятилетия можно ожидать наступления следующего переходного этапа с резкими межгодовыми колебаниями температур, с чередованием теплых и суровых зим.
Рассказывается о результатах комплексной научной экспедиции Южного научного центра РАН по берегам Нижнего Дона и Цимлянского водохранилища в пределах Ростовской и Волгоградской областей, проведенной в сентябре 2022 г. при поддержке Русского географического общества. Целью экспедиции было изучение современного состояния донских береговых ландшафтов и прибрежной акватории.
