Стаття присвячена дослідженню властивостей і характеристик психологічних меж у підлітків. Автори розглядають концепцію, згідно з якою підлітковий вік є сенситивним з точки зору розвитку внутрішніх і зовнішніх Я-відмежуваннь. У тексті аналізуються основні психічні утворення підліткового віку, вивчається їх вплив на зміну психологічних меж підлітків. Стаття складається з теоретичної та емпіричної частин. Емпіричне дослідження підлітків молодшого і старшого віку дозволило уточнити, як зміни функцій і відмежувань Я пов'язані з розвитком особистості підлітків і як цей розвиток, зі свого боку, обумовлює трансформацію й підтримує низку психічних новоутворень підліткового віку. Зокрема, доведено, що в підлітків молодшого і старшого віку відрізняються окремі параметри психологічних меж, їх функції та Я-відмежування. Показано, як за допомогою рефлексії й самосвідомості підлітки вчаться керувати функціями психологічних меж, що призводить до перегляду ціх меж і їх руху. Виявлено, що більший розвиток Я-відмежуваннь у старших підлітків свідчить на користь внутрішньої диференціації психіки, дає змогу утримувати відрефлексовані частини себе й забезпечує підтримку цілої низки новоутворень підліткового віку, таких як становлення самосвідомості та формування стійкої самооцінки. Крім того показано, що функції психологічних меж працюють у підлітків в екстремально протилежних режимах: то в конструктивному, то в дефіцітарному. Саме це пояснює подвійну природу відносин, які створює підліток. На основі виявлених відмінностей можна стверджувати, що підлітковий період розвитку є сенситивним для формування низки функцій психологічних меж, а також зовнішніх і внутрішніх Я-відмежувань. Зміни функцій і відмежувань Я є наслідком розвитку особистості підлітків, але, зі свого боку, вони обумовлюють її трансформацію й підтримують низку психічних новоутворень підліткового віку.
