There was a research, conducted in order to study the motivational profile of students of the Kuban State Medical University and the Ural State Medical University. The research took place at Faculties of Pediatrics and Faculties of Dentistry. In order to detect the students' learning motivation, the method of A.A. Rean and V.A. Yakunin, modified by N.T. Badmaeva was used. The study showed, that for the undergraduate students, the primary motive to study at medical universities is the desire of self-realization in medicine and becoming a first-rate specialist ("professional reasons"). The students of the Faculty of Dentistry were also ascertained to have a higher motivation for professional profile than that of the students of the Faculty of Pediatrics. In addition, the students of the Faculty of Pediatrics have a stronger motivation to realize their educational-cognitive abilities, than the students of the Faculty of Dentistry. It was also found out, that by the fifth year of education at the Faculty of Dentistry, there is a decrease in prestige motives, social motives and avoiding failures among the young men; however, the tendency is not traced among the girls. There are differences in learning motivation among the students of different generations. And finally, there is a higher motivation to study at the Faculty of Medicine among the students from India.
